Rarely Seen: Hidden Collections of the Mütter Museum gives visitors the chance to experience some rarely (or not seen in many years ) collections of the Mütter Museum. Too large to display in the permanent museum galleries, fascinating objects will be displayed in our temporary exhibit space for a limited time. The exhibit features the Iron Lung, an important historical instrument which saved lives stricken with polio, The exhibit recreates the dissection lab of Dr. William Osler, one of the 20th century’s most famous medical educators and clinicians. New acquisitions will be displayed, such as a bacterial incubator used by Dr. Robert Austrian, a pioneer researcher of infectious diseases. This exhibit will be on display from September 2010 through January 2011.
